PUBLIC NOTICE: SCAM TEXT MESSAGE ALERT

The Waller County Justice of the Peace, Pct. 1 has been made aware of a fraudulent text message currently being sent to members of the public regarding alleged outstanding traffic citations.

The message claims to be from a “Texas Motor Vehicle Enforcement Services Division” and threatens penalties such as vehicle registration suspension, driving restrictions, and additional fees if payment is not made immediately. The message also includes a link requesting payment.

This message is a SCAM.

Please be advised:

  • The State of Texas does not collect traffic citation payments through unsolicited text messages or suspicious links.

  • The referenced agency and link in the message are not legitimate.

DO NOT:

  • Click on any links included in the message

  • Reply to the message

  • Provide any personal or financial information

If you receive this message, we recommend that you delete it immediately.

If you have concerns about a possible citation or warrant, please contact the Court directly using the official contact information listed on this website.

You may also report scam attempts to:

  • The Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov

  • The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles

After completing one of the above forms, you must submit it to the court.

  If you do not have your Docket Number use your TX Driver's License Number.

There is a 3% processing fee for using this service.

If you make a payment WITHOUT requesting a dismissal option such as defensive driving or deferred disposition, the court will enter a conviction against you. Please review and submit a plead guilty form before making a payment.
